According to Jesus, anyone who calls another a fool is in danger of going to hell:

But I say unto you, That whosoever is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment: and whosoever shall say to his brother, Raca, shall be in danger of the council: but whosoever shall say, Thou fool, shall be in danger of hell fire. (Matthew 5:22)

Dispite this, Jesus calls people fools, putting himself in danger of the very hellfire he warned us about in Mathew 5:

Ye fools and blind: for whether is greater, the gold, or the temple that sanctifieth the gold? (Matthew 23:17)

Furthermore, God himself calls people fools:

But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided? (Luke 12:20)

Interpretation:

You can't get much plainer than this. Both the father and the son have either knowingly placed themselves in danger of going to hell, or the son lied when he claimed that calling another a fool had this effect (either way it proves that Jesus was not without sin). One might be able to make the claim that the danger of hell isn't the same as actually going to hell. Perhaps Jesus was merely warning against behavior that might lead to wrath. Either way, it may be ironic, but I can't think of anyone more deserving of eternal damnation than the guy who invented eternal damnation.

This is what the LORD says: Do not learn the ways of the nations or be terrified by signs in the sky, though the nations are terrified by them. For the customs of the peoples are worthless; they cut a tree out of the forest, and a craftsman shapes it with his chisel. Interpretation:

With all this holiday cheer going around, we figured we'd spread a little bit of humbug. What could be better for spreading humbug than letting all those practicing Christians know that the tree they just put up is actually a pagan practice that was specifically forbidden in the bible? What you see here is God specifically saying that we should not cut down trees to cover them with silver and gold. They considered this to essentially idolatry. Indeed, we even lay gifts down before these idols every year to pay homage, not to God, but consumerism! The Christmas tree was originally adopted from pagan practices that were very similar. The bible clearly says that we should not do this and that it is a worthless practice. We couldn't agree more. Nothing says stress and hypocrisy like Merry Christmas!

In all fairness, this passage is specifically prohibiting the creation of wooden idols. Which was not intended to specifically prohibit Christmas trees. However, it does resemble this practice very closely and it could be easily argued that this passage also prohibits the decoration of the Christmas tree. While the tree is not specifically worshiped, it has been adopted as a symbol for the season. I can also guarantee that the children think more about what's under that tree than who was supposedly born 2000 years ago. The Christmas tree is indeed idolatry, don't just take my word for it, read Jeremiah 10 and see for yourself.

Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image, or any likeness of any thing that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth.
Thou shalt not bow down thyself to them, nor serve them: for I the LORD thy God am a jealous God, visiting the iniquity of the fathers upon the children unto the third and fourth generation of them that hate me; And shewing mercy unto thousands of them that love me, and keep my commandments.(Exodus 20:4-6)

Interpretation:

I'm sure you'll recognize the second commandment when you see it. However, I don't think many people know the full text of this commandment. Here we are told that a graven image consists of any likeness made to appear like anything on, above or beneath the earth and/or sea. Additionally, it is also suggested that not only will you be punished, but your descendants will be punished up to four generations! That means that you could be punished by god for nothing more than the fact that your grandfather doodled a picture of an animal. Indeed, if you've ever made a drawing, you have broken this commandment. If you have ever made a sculpture, you have broken this commandment. If you have ever made a paper airplane, you have broken this commandment. Apparently, those who do so are also considered to hate god and them and their descendants are punished for it.

It must be noted that there is a specific prescription not to bow down to these graven images. However, it is not part of the requirement for transgression. Note the language used "do not make a graven image or likeness of..." and "do not bow down to them." In other words, neither shall you make nor show reverence for graven images, both are sins.

Interpretation:

Upon reading all of Judges 1, we find that a war is taking place. The Israelites are running around, killing all sorts of people and taking their land all while God lends them aid by delivering these people into their hands. Well... not all of them. Apparently, God could not drive out one particular group and it's all because they had chariots of iron. It seems as if this all powerful god actually does have a weakness and his kryptonite just happens to be iron!

There are also several verses that suggest that iron shouldn't be used to construct many structures of religious significance such as altars (Deuteronomy 27:5, Joshua 8:31, and many more). Iron, being the element that gives blood its color and odor, has long be associated with life and death as well as the gods. It is often used to repel fairies, demons, witches and evil spirits. It surprised me to find that apparently it also repels god... or at least renders him unable to shoo you away.

Can a God really be claimed to be all powerful if he can't even deal with a few iron chariots? How do you think he'd stand up to an armored tank?

But a certain man named Ananias, with Sapphira his wife, sold a possession, And kept back part of the price, his wife also being privy to it, and brought a certain part, and laid it at the apostles' feet. But Peter said, Ananias, why hath Satan filled thine heart to lie to the Holy Ghost, and to keep back part of the price of the land? Whiles it remained, was it not thine own? and after it was sold, was it not in thine own power? why hast thou conceived this thing in thine heart? thou hast not lied unto men, but unto God. And Ananias hearing these words fell down, and gave up the ghost: and great fear came on all them that heard these things. And the young men arose, wound him up, and carried him out, and buried him. And it was about the space of three hours after, when his wife, not knowing what was done, came in. And Peter answered unto her, Tell me whether ye sold the land for so much? And she said, Yea, for so much. Then Peter said unto her, How is it that ye have agreed together to tempt the Spirit of the Lord? behold, the feet of them which have buried thy husband are at the door, and shall carry thee out. Then fell she down straightway at his feet, and yielded up the ghost: and the young men came in, and found her dead, and, carrying her forth, buried her by her husband. (Acts 5:1-10)

Interpretation:

We find in the previous chapter, Acts 4:32-37, that the early church was having their members sell everything they had and give it to the church. The church would then provide for everyone and everyone had what they needed, everyone was equal. They were communists. This couple decided to withhold a small portion of the money from the sale of their property so that they would have some for themselves on top of what the apostles allowed them to have. For this they were killed. It says that they simply died, giving up their ghost. Unless these people were so old that they simply had heart-attacks from the stress of being accused of being capitalists, it seems likely that either God or the apostles caused their deaths. When you consider the fact that gods are all imaginary, you are left with the apostles being little more than cutthroat extorting communists who kill people who attempt to keep what they've earned for themselves.

An interesting point to be made here is that any defense of scripture in this instance will also be a defense of communism, something that the religious right seems to always be fervently opposed to. It seems like any way you slice it, the early church was a communist organization. Additionally, their socialist doctrine was so concrete that death seems to be what happens to capitalists within their ranks.

Interpretation:

This one is very clear, you are to kill a man or a woman who has intercourse with an animal. What is a bit odd is that the animal is also killed. Is it the animals fault that their owner is sexually deviant? But if she bear a maid child, then she shall be unclean two weeks, as in her separation: and she shall continue in the blood of her purifying threescore and six days. And when the days of her purifying are fulfilled, for a son, or for a daughter, she shall bring a lamb of the first year for a burnt offering, and a young pigeon, or a turtledove, for a sin offering, unto the door of the tabernacle of the congregation, unto the priest: Who shall offer it before the LORD, and make an atonement for her; and she shall be cleansed from the issue of her blood. This is the law for her that hath born a male or a female. And if she be not able to bring a lamb, then she shall bring two turtles, or two young pigeons; the one for the burnt offering, and the other for a sin offering: and the priest shall make an atonement for her, and she shall be clean. (Leviticus 12:5-8)

Interpretation:

This is Leviticus 12 in it's entirety. It is very clear that a woman who gives birth is made unclean by giving birth. She must wait a certain number of days, and then have a priest perform both a burnt offering and a sin offering. Note, however, that when she gives birth to a male she is unclean for one week but when she gives birth to a female, she is unclean for two weeks. Note also that even after she is clean from the birth, she is still unclean from her bleeding and must wait 33 days if she gave birth to a male and 66 days if she gave birth to a female.

It is important to note that such a prescription of uncleanliness would prevent a husband from having intercourse with his wife for the specified amount of time. While four to six weeks, the most common suggestion, aligns pretty well with what is stated here, there is no difference between having a male and a female that would warrant such vaginal discrimination. Indeed, the only thing that seems important is that her bleeding stop so that it is certain that she has healed before resuming intercourse.

One may also claim that the prescription for her not to enter a temple or touch anything hallowed, is basically forcing her to rest. But this does not prevent the woman from working around the house, nor does it treat her with the respect and reverence she deserves for bearing a child. Instead, it suggests that her bearing a child is a sin that she must be purified from.

Ask yourself this, would such a passage be written by an all loving god? Is this this kind of god you want to worship?

And it came to pass, that at midnight the LORD smote all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, from the firstborn of Pharaoh that sat on his throne unto the firstborn of the captive that was in the dungeon; and all the firstborn of cattle.(Exodus 12:29)

Interpretation:

This one is fairly straight forward. In an effort to force Pharaoh to release the Israelite slaves, the god of the bible kills all firstborn in Egypt with the exception of the Israelites who smeared blood over their door. My question is "what did these children do?" It was Pharaoh who refused to let Moses' people go, not these children. Their only sin was being born first to the oppressors of the Israelites. They were killed to prove a point but was this really a good thing? All people within any of the Judeo-Christian religions are taught this story, it is pivotal to all who practice these faiths. Many take this passage for granted, thinking of the Egyptians as the bad guys. After all, it's okay for the children of the bad guys to die, right? Absolutely not, such a stance is morally reprehensible. Why would a just, moral and loving god kill innocent children?

Some may say that such children, being under the age of accountability would go straight to heaven. However, such a mode of thought implies that it is not immoral to kill children. If children do indeed go straight to heaven shouldn't we kill them before they become adults and are able to sin? Surely the best way to assure that they go to heaven is to kill them before they grow old enough to be accountable for their transgressions. However, the concept of the age of accountability and the free ride to heaven for the underage is not supported by scripture. Indeed according to Romans 3:23, "for all have sinned and fall short of the glory of God." There is no exception of "unless you're under a certain age."

There is no question, the god of the bible has murdered children. Now you have a choice to make, are you going to follow a god that would murder children just to prove a point?

And the waters prevailed exceedingly upon the earth; and all the high hills, that were under the whole heaven, were covered. Fifteen cubits upward did the waters prevail; and the mountains were covered. And all flesh died that moved upon the earth, both of fowl, and of cattle, and of beast, and of every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth, and every man: All in whose nostrils was the breath of life, of all that was in the dry land, died. And every living substance was destroyed which was upon the face of the ground, both man, and cattle, and the creeping things, and the fowl of the heaven; and they were destroyed from the earth: and Noah only remained alive, and they that were with him in the ark. (Genesis 7:19-23)

Interpretation:

Now this is one that every young Christian is taught in Sunday school. We're told the story of Noah and the flood and how he gathered two of every beast of the earth to save in the ark. There are several problems with this story, but we're only going to focus on one. Here it is very plainly stated that God kills everyone on earth, sparing only Noah and those that are on the ark with him. Of those people that were on the earth how many were children? Within the current population something like one third of the population are under 18. This means that around one third of the people God drowned were children. There's no indication of the total population of the world at the time, so we cannot say exactly how many he killed. However, that doesn't matter. The people of the earth that HE CREATED turned evil and he wanted to start over. Not only does this indicate that God made a mistake the first time around, but that he also sees genocide as an appropriate method to right said wrongs. Of the people he killed, around a third were likely to be children, many of whom would be completely innocent. Some would also be well below the age of accountability.

When we're taught this story in Sunday school, we overlook the genocide. I won't let you do that. Think about it. Think about all the innocent children that the Christian god murdered. Think about the innocent animals that he caused to suffer and die. If Noah saved two puppies, the God killed the rest. If Noah saved two kittens, then how many more did God drown? How many evil koalas did he drown? One thing that no one thinks about is what happened when the flood waters receded. Sure, the creatures of the sea survived the flood just fine, but what about all the dolphins that may have been stranded when the waters receded? How much death did he cause? The god of the bible killed EVERY LIVING THING on the planet except what was in one boat.

Think about it, if you are a Christian, you have to know that your god killed men women and children, not to mention countless animals. He drowned them to death by flooding the entire earth. Whether these people were evil or not, he did not give them the chance for redemption. He did not reveal himself to them and say "hey, get yourself straightened out or I'll wipe you out". Instead he revealed himself to one man and said "build a boat, cause I'm drowning everyone but you!" Seems to me like the god of the bible just likes to watch people suffer and die, a sentiment that is supported by the rest of the wretched book.

Interpretation:

Much of Leviticus is filled with various terrible rules and I think this one qualifies. If you curse your parents, you are to be put to death. I would imagine that there are some circumstances where cursing your parents may be entirely appropriate. The bible, however, refuses to recognize that such exceptions may exist and requires not only absolute obedience, but also death for the disobedient. Personally, I wonder how anyone made it past their teens in such a society.

Good and moral parents would have no need for such a law, nor would they enforce it. However, the bible suggests that this disgustingly violent and intolerant law is indeed a good and necessary thing. Could you bring yourself to kill your children should they curse you? God commands that you kill them. Do you disobey your god or your conscious? Who do you love more, your god or your child? If they curse you, this might be a decision you'll have to make.
